Overview of Unified Profile for DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) Training Course

The Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) is an architecture framework for the United States Department of Defense that provides structure for addressing specific stakeholder concerns through viewpoints organized by various views.

DoDAF defines a set of views that serve as mechanisms for visualizing, understanding, and assimilating the broad scope and complexities of an architecture description through tabular, structural, behavioral, ontological, pictorial, temporal, or graphical means. These views are essential for ensuring clarity and alignment in the development and management processes for government projects.

It is particularly suited to large systems with complex integration and interoperability challenges, and uniquely includes operational views that detail the external customer's operating domain in which the developing system will function. The MODAF (Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework) is an internationally recognized enterprise architecture framework developed by the MOD to support defense planning and change management activities. It enables the capture and presentation of information in a rigorous, coherent, and comprehensive manner that aids the understanding of complex issues.
