Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this curriculum, participants will demonstrate the ability to:
- Articulate the foundational concepts and governing principles of an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) aligned with ISO/IEC 42001.
- Analyze the ISO/IEC 42001 specifications for an AIMS from the operational standpoint of a practitioner.
- Direct and structure the deployment of an ISO/IEC 42001-based AIMS by applying PECB’s IMS2 Methodology and other recognized best practices for government contexts.
- Facilitate organizational operations, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of an AIMS compliant with ISO/IEC 42001.
- Position the organization to meet the standards of third-party certification audits for government stakeholders.
Curriculum Structure
Day 1: Overview of ISO/IEC 42001 and the initiation of AIMS deployment
Day 2: Strategic planning for AIMS implementation
Day 3: Execution of AIMS deployment activities
Day 4: AIMS performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and readiness for certification audits
Day 5: Certification examination

Examination
The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer” examination adheres to all PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) standards. The assessment covers the following competency areas:
Area 1: Core principles and concepts of an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS)
Area 2: Requirements for artificial intelligence management systems
Area 3: Planning for AIMS implementation in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001
Area 4: Execution of AIMS implementation in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001
Area 5: Monitoring and measurement of AIMS performance in accordance with ISO/IEC 42001
Area 6: Continuous improvement and preparation for AIMS certification audits
Available Certifications and Eligibility Criteria
Following a successful examination, candidates may apply for one of the following credentials, contingent upon professional experience and project involvement. Certification is granted upon fulfillment of all criteria for the selected tier, including execution of the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Implementer

2. PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Implementer

Professional Experience: Two years of cumulative experience, with a minimum of one year dedicated to artificial intelligence

AIMS Project Experience: Minimum of 200 hours of project-related activities

3. PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer

Professional Experience: Five years of cumulative experience, with a minimum of two years dedicated to artificial intelligence

AIMS Project Experience: Minimum of 300 hours of project-related activities

4. PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Implementer

Examination Requirement: PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer examination or equivalent

Professional Experience: Ten years of cumulative experience, with a minimum of seven years dedicated to artificial intelligence

AIMS Project Experience: Minimum of 1,000 hours of project-related activities

General Information
- Examination and certification fees are encompassed within the training curriculum cost.
- Participants receive comprehensive training materials comprising over 400 pages of content, including practical case studies, exercises, and assessments.
- An official certificate of course completion, crediting 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours, is issued to all participants who complete the training.
- Candidates who complete the curriculum but do not pass the initial examination are eligible for one complimentary retake within 12 months of the original exam date.
Requirements
The primary prerequisite for participation in this training curriculum is a general understanding of AIMS and ISO/IEC 42001.
