Course Outline

Session 1: Introduction to Minitab

  • Overview of the Minitab interface and menus for government use
  • Creating a new project and importing data for government applications
  • Data manipulation and cleaning techniques for government datasets

Session 2: Descriptive Statistics

  • Measures of central tendency and variability for government data analysis
  • Graphical displays of data (histograms, box plots, scatter plots) for government reporting
  • Data transformations for enhanced government data interpretation

Session 3: Inferential Statistics

  • Hypothesis testing (one-sample t-tests, two-sample t-tests, ANOVA) for government research
  • Confidence intervals for government statistical reporting
  • Nonparametric tests (Wilcoxon rank-sum test) for government data analysis

Session 4: Regression Analysis

  • Simple linear regression for government predictive modeling
  • Multiple regression for comprehensive government data analysis
  • Model selection and validation techniques for government applications

Note: This course assumes that participants have a basic understanding of statistical concepts such as probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. However, the course is designed to be accessible to individuals with little to no background in statistics for government use.

Requirements

This course is tailored for individuals new to Minitab who seek to gain foundational skills in statistical analysis using Minitab. Prior knowledge of statistics or Minitab is not necessary. This training aligns with the need for robust data analysis capabilities for government and other public sector organizations, ensuring participants are well-equipped to handle data-driven decision-making processes.
