Course Outline

Session 1: Introduction to Minitab for Government

  • Overview of the Minitab interface and menus for government use
  • Creating a new project and importing data for government applications
  • Data manipulation and cleaning techniques for government datasets

Session 2: Descriptive Statistics for Government

  • Measures of central tendency and variability in governmental contexts
  • Graphical displays of data (histograms, box plots, scatter plots) for government analysis
  • Data transformations for enhanced government reporting

Session 3: Inferential Statistics for Government

  • Hypothesis testing (one-sample t-tests, two-sample t-tests, ANOVA) for government research
  • Confidence intervals for government data interpretation
  • Nonparametric tests (Wilcoxon rank-sum test) for government statistical analysis

Session 4: Regression Analysis for Government

  • Simple linear regression for government studies
  • Multiple regression for comprehensive government analysis
  • Model selection and validation for reliable government reporting

Note: This course assumes that participants have a basic understanding of statistical concepts such as probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. However, the course is designed to be accessible to individuals with little to no background in statistics, ensuring it meets the needs of various government roles.

Requirements

This course is tailored for government professionals who are new to Minitab and seek to acquire foundational skills in statistical analysis using this tool. Prior experience with statistics or Minitab is not necessary.
