Course Description

This five-day instructional course equips participants with the expertise necessary to plan, administer, and maintain a Microsoft SharePoint 2016 environment. The curriculum covers the deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of SharePoint systems. Additionally, it provides regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and strategic considerations to optimize SharePoint deployments for government operations.

This is the introductory course in a two-part series designed for IT professionals and aligns with the SharePoint 2016 IT Pro certification standards.

Target Audience

This course is intended for experienced IT professionals who seek to master the installation, configuration, deployment, and management of SharePoint 2016 in both data center and cloud-based contexts.

Participants typically possess more than one year of hands-on experience* in planning and maintaining SharePoint systems, along with two years of experience in core supporting technologies, including Windows Server 2012 R2 or later, Internet Information Services (IIS), Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or later, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), and networking infrastructure services.

A minimally qualified candidate typically meets the following criteria:

• Is an IT professional responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining multi-server SharePoint 2016 deployments for government and public sector use.
• Has practical knowledge and, preferably, hands-on experience with SharePoint Online.
• Has a comprehensive understanding of SharePoint workloads.
• Has experience with business continuity management, including data backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
• Has experience with authentication and security technologies.
• Has experience with Windows PowerShell.

* The hands-on or job experience should derive from a solutions-focused role where the candidate has managed multiple SharePoint initiatives, including document management, content management, and search services for government entities.
