OMG Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) Training Course

This training will teach you how to use SysML, the modeling language for systems engineering. In particular, you will learn about block diagrams for structural modeling of complex systems. You will deepen your understanding of sequence diagrams, state diagrams, and activity diagrams for dynamic modeling.

You will also learn how to use specific SysML diagrams such as the requirements diagram and the parametric diagram, as well as the concept of allocation. We will emphasize the need to define a modeling approach that is adapted to the business context and the type of system being studied, ensuring alignment with public sector workflows, governance, and accountability for government.

The practice will be conducted using the Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) modeling tool from NoMagic.

This introductory course on Enterprise Architect is tailored for individuals who intend to utilize Sparx Systems' UML modeling tool, Enterprise Architect, for their modeling tasks but are not yet familiar with its features, functionalities, and usage. This course provides a comprehensive overview of building and maintaining an Enterprise Architecture (EA) using the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) version 1.2, through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and interactive labs. This training is designed for professionals who already possess an ITIL® 4 Foundation certification and seek to update their knowledge to align with the latest ITIL® 5 framework. Defined as “a set of organizational resources for performing work or accomplishing an objective,” there are 34 ITIL management practices in total, representing some of the most practical resources within the ITIL framework. While ITIL 4 Foundation introduces these management practices as foundational concepts, hands-on learning and application occur through specific practice modules. Certification validates the skills acquired through these courses. Each individual practice course is designed for professionals aiming to demonstrate their proficiency in particular areas. However, certification as a Practice Manager for government requires a broader set of skills across a minimum of five practices that fall within three management practice domains: - Monitor, Support, and Fulfill - Plan, Implement, and Control - Collaborate, Assure, and Improve For IT professionals interested in achieving the Practice Manager qualification for government, the goal is to establish effective cross-practice collaboration and service value streams within your organization. The OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental examination assesses the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a foundational SysML model of a system. This exam covers key areas such as model concepts and organization, basic requirements capture and management, structural and behavioral models, parametric models, allocation relationships, and the use of stereotypes. With the competencies acquired at this level and proficiency in an appropriate SysML modeling tool, individuals holding the OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental Certification should be effective contributors to modeling tasks within a Systems Engineering team that employs a model-based systems engineering approach using SysML. The OCSMP Model Builder – Fundamental Certification is a prerequisite for the program’s two higher levels and requires the OCSMP Model User Certification as its prerequisite.

This examination, along with others in the OCSMP series, evaluates your ability to apply the knowledge and skills outlined here within the context of a system model.
