Course Outline

Day 1: Overview of ISO 22301 standards and the initiation of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) implementation.

Day 2: Development of the BCMS implementation plan.

Day 3: Execution of the BCMS implementation.

Day 4: Assessment of system performance, establishment of continual improvement processes, and preparation for the certification audit.

Day 5: Certification examination.

The PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer examination adheres to the requirements set forth in the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). The assessment evaluates competency across the following domains:

  • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of a BCMS.
  • Domain 2: Initiation of a BCMS implementation.
  • Domain 3: Planning of a BCMS implementation in accordance with ISO 22301.
  • Domain 4: Implementation of a BCMS based on ISO 22301.
  • Domain 5: Evaluation of BCMS performance in alignment with ISO 22301.
  • Domain 6: Continual improvement of the BCMS based on ISO 22301.
  • Domain 7: Preparation for the BCMS certification audit.

PECB ISO 22301 Implementer Certification Prerequisites

To attain PECB ISO 22301 Implementer certification, candidates must successfully pass the PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer Exam (or an equivalent approved examination) and formally adhere to the PECB Code of Ethics. Eligibility for specific credential tiers is determined by professional experience and documented project history:

1. Provisional Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Provisional Implementer.
  • Professional Experience Requirement: None.
  • BCMS Project Experience Requirement: None.
  • Target Audience: Professionals entering the field or transitioning into business continuity management who have passed the examination but lack practical project hours for higher-tier credentials.

2. Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Implementer.
  • Professional Experience Requirement: Two years of total professional experience, including a minimum of one year dedicated to Business Continuity Management responsibilities.
  • BCMS Project Experience Requirement: A cumulative total of at least 200 hours of project activities.

3. Lead Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer.
  • Professional Experience Requirement: Five years of total professional experience, including a minimum of two years dedicated to Business Continuity Management responsibilities.
  • BCMS Project Experience Requirement: A cumulative total of at least 300 hours of project activities.

4. Senior Lead Implementer

  • Credential: PECB Certified ISO 22301 Senior Lead Implementer.
  • Professional Experience Requirement: Ten years of total professional experience, including a minimum of seven years dedicated to Business Continuity Management responsibilities.
  • BCMS Project Experience Requirement: A cumulative total of at least 1,000 hours of project activities.
