Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is a two-day course designed to teach Scrum through highly practical, hands-on instruction and team-based exercises. Participants will be immediately engaged in real-world scenarios.

Throughout the course, teams of students work on building a software application over several Sprints, encountering and addressing common real-life challenges. The mechanics, roles, principles, and empirical process of Scrum are demonstrated, with discussions on common missteps and misunderstandings to enhance awareness of potential issues.

Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is ideal for teams and individuals looking to experience the Scrum methodology in action. The course provides a foundational understanding necessary for role-specific training for Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Developers, as offered through Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner, and Professional Scrum Development classes.

Professional Scrum Certification

All participants who complete the Applying Professional Scrum course will receive a password to take the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSM I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. APS class participants who attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not achieve at least 85% will be granted a second attempt at no additional cost.

This 2-day Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) workshop is designed to simulate a large software development project using the Nexus™ framework. The workshop employs an end-to-end case study where participants collaborate to organize and simulate a scaled software development project. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to over 50 practices aimed at reducing complexity and dependencies in large-scale projects. The workshop provides a comprehensive understanding of how to launch, structure, staff, and manage large Agile projects using Scrum. Participants will gain insights into the infrastructure, tools, and practices necessary to scale Scrum effectively, thereby maximizing the value of their software development initiatives. Through hands-on activities, students will be fully engaged in the learning process, experiencing firsthand the challenges of large-scale development and discovering practical solutions to keep projects on track. They will also learn techniques for detecting irregularities and addressing them appropriately.

The industry-recognized SPS certification requires a minimum passing score of 85% and assesses knowledge of the Nexus Framework, course content, and Scrum principles.
